Design for Rapid Manufacturing

The design of a new product starts with its own definition. Once the specifications are explained, it is necessary to shape the feature set given in the concept definition generally by the computer aided design (CAD).

The next stage is to give physical form to the design, which means materialize the design made via CAD. This phase will end with the construction of a prototype of the new product, which will verify the strengths and weaknesses of the design, by conducting various tests to find out the functionality and strength of the product.

With the advent of Rapid Manufacturing, the scene has changed completely. This set of techniques can build prototypes directly from CAD-generated data in a matter of hours. This facilitates the successive stages of design and development process can be completed in a few weeks instead of months and years in the case of traditional manufacturing prototypes.

The Fundació CIM makes use of technologies to reduce the "Time to Market", by integrating CAD / CAM / CAE / CIM for analysis, design and optimization of products.
