Multi-axis high speed machining

Increasing competitiveness which faces the metal-mechanical industry today is essential to use machines with more than the classical 3-axis X/Y/Z.

Each day it is becoming more common to aim mechanizing pieces in the shortest number of lurches possible due to the advantages in idle time savings and better accuracy positioning that can be achieved by not modifying the lasting attachments during the mechanization. This is the main reason why the concept of multi-axis mechanization is increasingly imposing, because it allows either to position the piece or the mechanical head in to the different mechanization planes.

On the other hand, the high speed mechanization can lead to a manufacturing cost reduction of the part up to 60%.

The Fundació works on determining the optimal working conditions according to the piece to be mechanized and the raw material to be used, making the best selection of the tools and the cutting parameters.
The Fundació also works in the development of new techniques for monitoring and diagnostics of machines and mechanization processes (state of the machine and the process itself to ensure the adequate quality of mechanized parts) and in the control of closed loop mechanization, adapting the real-time process conditions to ensure the quality of the parts produced.
