Research and Development

The Research and Development activities of the Fundació CIM are focused on production technologies and ICT, with specialists in the areas of systems engineering, manufacturing, automation, robotics, mechanics and design, which can contribute to solve in a holistic manner the problems of existing systems of industrial production.

The Fundació is active in the development of new emerging processes, but it is also a key element to facilitating that the industrial environment and country’s research have access to processes that, even not being new, are not easily available or at reach.

At the same time, special attention is given to the emerging strategic alliances with institutions that develop scientific and auxiliary disciplines to the Fundació CIM developments. In this aspect, the Fundació CIM is coordinator of the Reference Network for Advanced Technologies of Production (XaRTAP), which includes research groups from the UPC, UAB, UdG and the CSIC.

This raises four major areas of work, associated respectively with new manufacturing processes, manufacturing and production systems, product engineering and application of ICT.
